How to find the best photographer for your brand
This week I wanted to dive into photography for your brand. It’s one of the most important things you can invest in when you’re first starting out, and throughout the life of your business.
It can be incredibly overwhelming starting the process of finding a photographer to work with, that’s why I’m hoping to help ease the process just a little bit.
There’s a lot to factor in when it comes to working with a photographer--budget, aesthetic, editing style, services they offer, and just simply feeling comfortable with who you work with.
Tip 1:
The first thing you always want to start with is your budget. Realizing that “investment” is the key word to focus on when you find yourself stressing over the prices involved in hiring a photographer. This is the type of investment that will never have an expiration date. It will always continue to add authenticity and overall benefits to your brand. Consider it the ultimate gift that keeps on giving to you, your brand, your following, and future following.
Tip 2:
Next is analyzing your brand and understanding what exactly it needs.
Does your brand aesthetic lean more towards moody and cinematic with earthy and darker tones? Or is your brand more light and airy, with splashes of bright colors?
You don’t have to fall directly within these two categories, but it’s best practice to first understand where your brand aesthetic lies. You can also use your brand color palette as a tool to help guide you.
The Brand Stylist is my go to when learning the color psychology behind my color palette. And helps me understand if my brand falls in a summer, spring, fall, or winter style or somewhere in between. In the end this can help tremendously with narrowing down who you will work with as your brand photographer.
Tip 3:
Once you think you’ve found someone that you’re interested in working with, make sure to voice your needs and concerns. They will always have questions for you and will most likely set up a meeting to meet face to face (virtually if need be).
This will be the time that you can express everything you feel you need during your sessions and also where you see if you two mesh well together. Being comfortable with who is behind the camera is a big factor that should always play into the process.
This can seem like a lot to take in, but putting your best foot forward when it comes to the present and future of your brand is something that I think is incredibly important, and believe you do too.
If you find yourself needing help with this process. Send me a note, and we can set up a consultation. This is an exciting part to building business and having a helping hand can make it that much better.
